The LRAD corporation says that anyone within a 100 meters of the device’s sound path will experience extreme pain. The version generally utilized by police department (the LRAD 500X) is designed to communicate at up to 2000 meters during ideal conditions. In a typical outdoor environment, the device can be heard for 650 meters. The 500x is also capable of short bursts of directed sound that cause severe headaches in anyone within a 300-meter range. Anyone within 15 meters of the device’s audio path can experience permanent hearing loss.
[…] Use of the device has come under fire because of the potential for permanent hearing loss. Human discomfort starts when a sound hits 120dB, well below the LRAD’s threshold. Permanent hearing loss begins at 130dB, and if the device is turned up to 140dB, anyone within its path would not only suffer hearing loss, they could potentially lose their balance and be unable to move out of the path of the audio. The device is also entirely operator dependent, which could lead to serious ramifications if the officer in charge doesn’t have sufficient training.
Emphasis mine. For people not on the metric system, 15 meters is a little under 50 feet. We don’t know how far they have it turned up, but from here we know that it is obviously enough to be very painful. Most of the time these are deployed, police aren’t afraid of going up close and personal within that range, hurting protesters— which, by the way, include children.
Freedom of assembly in action. This is what police officials have called “restraint”.
#FERGUSON protestor returns tear gas canister back to sender…
This is Amerikkka 2014
while eating his chips lol
People so often use “iconic” to refer to things that are not iconic, but I feel like this picture really will be.
I said it before in a tag, but I think the American flag T-shirt is what’s going to make this the biggest image to come out of Ferguson. Few things make an impression like wearing a T-shirt with the flag of the land of the free and the home of the brave on it while you throw back a tear gas canister that the people who are supposed to be protecting you threw at you in the first place just for protesting.
Every time I see this post the commentary gets better
It’s not just the flag. It’s the dreadlocks. The visible blackness of this protester. This is black America fighting back. There’s a post somewhere on tumblr floating around of racial genocides going on right now in the world, with protesters throwing tear gas back, wearing masks- and this one outright shows what country it’s happening in, what race is fighting back.
This picture is iconic because it’s so well defined that if this was in a movie, this would be used as a promo still to showcase the cinematography- but it’s real. This happened. This is happening. And this is flawless political commentary in a single photo.
THIS IS THE ONLY TIME I WILL EVER SAY THIS. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF BLOG YOU ARE RUNNING REBLOG THIS. THIS CRAP NEEDS TO BE KNOWN. NEEDS TO BE SEEN. AND NEEDS TO BE SPREAD.THIS IS HAPPENING IN MY STATE AND IT IS FUCKING TERRIFYING. LET IT BE KNOWN. DON’T STOP SPREADING THE NEWS. MAKE EVERYONE SEE THE SHIT THAT IS GOING DOWN. Please. No body else seems to be protecting them anymore. Do what you can.
Anonymous said: I really want to do something about Ferguson but I live states away and have no money to fund anything. Do you know of any petitions or SOMETHING I can do, because I've tried my hardest to get the word out, we new to reach out to these people. I feel like we aren't doing enough there has to be something.
Contact the Ferguson Police Department and seek information on those being detained, the protests, legal procedures, etc.

DO NOT reblog photos of Mike Brown’s body lying on the street. His family has requested that these photos not be spread around. Please respect their wishes.
Very importantly, stay alert. Read everything you can on the subject. The reports on The New York Times, Al Jazeera, and other news outlets are very limited, especially because the police in Ferguson are going to great lengths to keep reporters out. Seek out what you can online and from first hand sources, if you know anyone in the area. Listen to the stories of those who have been affected by this tragedy and other similar ones. Educate yourself as much as you possibly can so you can help make sure the right people are heard.
So These are just my absolute favorites from the upcoming collaboration from Altuzarra for Target. How flattering and amazing would these be if they were plus sized?! I would kill it in these pieces. The dresses are not very much unlike those offered by Igigi, and they make every woman thinner or bigger look like a million bucks. Yet, these garments will max out at a Target XL and maybe a 14/16. But a small 14/16, that will never fit my ample bosom. And I’m fed up with how Target’s been doing this for so long. I see amazing things I want, (I’m looking at you MIssoni for Target…) that end up not ever being inclusive enough. Its even worse than their normal sizing, which occasionally will work for me. This comes after they clear out the “plus size” section, but then sorta bring it back? It is clear to me that Target has no interest in my market, and therefore, my money. And now it’s time for us curvy and plus size ladies to speak with our wallets. I’m done shopping there until they can manage to include me in their market.
